World Famous Onion Pie

Becky,
Would you like my World Famous Onion Pie recipe for your site?? If yes here it is. Mark can’t have all the fame.
Debra

Got this from my good friend Debra after featuring her husbands Bacon Wrapped Lil’ Smokies on my blog.   Of course I am going to put her recipe on here too.  Try these both and tell me which one you like better.  I promise not to tell them!

World Famous Onion Pie

9″ Deep dish single pie crust
1/2 cup unsalted butter ( my second time I used a little less)
2 lbs Vidalia or any Sweet onions thinly sliced
3 large eggs, (beat them)
1 cup sour cream
3 Tbsp all purpose flour
1/4 tsp Kosher salt
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
egg wash for pie crust

Preheat oven to 450

Brush egg wash on inside of pie crust & keep in fridge until filling is ready.
Over medium heat, melt butter. Add onions and sauté until translucent. Do not
brown.  Combine eggs, sour cream & flour. Add to onions. Season  with salt & pepper and pour into chilled pie crust. Top with Parmesan cheese.

Bake for 20 minutes at 450. Reduce oven temp to 325 and bake 20 minutes or until
center of pie is set.

Don’t forget to send in your vote for Debra’s World Famous Onion Pie or Mark’s Bacon Wrapped Lil’ Smokies.

  1. Pie sounds good, but the Smokies rule! Nothing beats Bacon.
