Snow and Homemade Hot Chocolate!

SNOW! We got about 4 inches of beautiful fresh powdery snow yesterday and last night.  What a treat for us because it doesn’t happen here very often.  We’ve been lucky this year though because we’ve had 2 big snows. (more than an inch!)

Enjoy the snow and when you come back in, warm up with some dellicious Homemade Hot Chocolate. Snow, hot chocolate, and marshmallows. They just go together.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

1 cup chilled heavy whipping cream (use less), divided
1 teaspoon + 2 tablespoon sugar
2 cups whole milk
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate chips
1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (I omitted)
4 small candy canes (for garnish) (I omitted)

1. Beat 1/2 cup cream and 1 teaspoon sugar in bowl until soft peaks form.  Cover; chill.  Whisk 1/2 cup cream, 2 tablespoons sugar, and milk in medium saucepan over medium-high heat; bring to boil.  Remove from heat.  Add chocolate; whisk until smooth.  Whisk in extract.  Divide chocolate among mugs.  Top with cream and garnish with candy canes.
